South-Versed Catalogue 2023

Here are the two images that weren’t published in the catalogue that gives more context to the digital screen based Ai art.

Untitled painting 2016

My art practice revolves around the concept of phygital, which bridges the digital and physical worlds to create immersive and interactive experiences. Specifically, my current work is a series of Artificial Intelligent generated animated NFT Domesticated Materiality, available for purchase on Makersplace. Inspired by experimental processes that I used in 2016 that explore sensory, tactility and materiality, this series pays tribute to the domesticated woman before me and the cultural fabric that shapes my art practice.

The term domesticated materiality encompasses my interest in the cultural and social meanings embedded in domestic objects and materials, and how they intersect with art and daily life. Through this series, I aim to challenge traditional gender roles and expectations placed on women in the domestic spheres. I thoughtfully and deliberately used builders; materials, plaster, silicones and polyurethane throughout my sculptural paintings.

These materials are often overlooked or dismissed as unimportant, I explore the rich lineage of my arts practices and acknowledge the past, present, and future of my creative evolution. In this way, Domesticated Materiality shares a rich history and contributes to a larger narrative about the value of domestic materials and the cultural implications of their use. My hope is to prompt viewers to reconsider their relationship with the materials around them, and to spark conversations about the meaning and potential of everyday objects.
